Holmes Chapel is a compact village and civil parish in Cheshire East, England, set beside the winding River Dane. Its roots are medieval - the name recalling a chapel by low-lying river meadows - but the settlement grew noticeably in the 19th century with the arrival of the railway, and retains a mix of historic buildings and later suburban development.
Today it feels like a prosperous commuter community with convenient rail links into Crewe and Manchester, a busy high street of shops and pubs, good local schools and active sports and community groups. Surrounded by Cheshire farmland, it combines a village atmosphere with easy access to larger towns and transport routes, making it popular with families and people who work in the nearby urban centres.
