The small village and civil parish of Wincham sits in the borough of Cheshire West and Chester, just to the east of Northwich. It occupies part of the Cheshire salt plain and its landscape and economy have long been shaped by the county's salt‑working heritage; nearby waterways associated with the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal also mark the area.
Today Wincham is largely a residential, semi‑rural community with local businesses, some light industry and agricultural land, while many residents commute to larger towns. Community life is village‑centred and informal, with ready access to the amenities and historic attractions of nearby Northwich and the wider Cheshire countryside.
