The civil parish of Woodplumpton lies a few miles north of Preston in Lancashire, set on largely flat, agricultural terrain with views towards the River Ribble corridor. It falls within the City of Preston district and comprises a scattering of hamlets, farms and a compact village core, which gives it a pleasantly rural character despite good road links into the nearby city.
With medieval roots visible in several older farmhouses and a small parish church, the local economy still leans on farming and equestrian activity, although many residents now commute for work. Community life is modest but active, centred around a village hall, local pubs and occasional seasonal events, and the surrounding fields and river edge are popular with walkers and birdwatchers.
