Norham is a small rural parish on the north bank of the River Tweed in northern Northumberland, England, sitting close to the Scottish border and only a few miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed. The setting is characterised by broad floodplain and farmland, popular with walkers, birdwatchers and anglers attracted to the Tweed's salmon runs.
The village is dominated by the dramatic ruins of Norham Castle, a 12th‑century border fortress once held by the bishops of Durham and famously painted by J.M.W. Turner; its history as a contested frontier stronghold draws visitors, while the local economy remains largely agricultural with a small, close‑knit community and modest tourism centred on history and landscape.
