Burtonwood is a semi-rural village in the borough of Warrington in north‑west England, historically part of Lancashire. It sits on low Cheshire plain close to the M62 and M6, making it convenient for commuting to both Manchester and Liverpool, and mixes pockets of farmland and greenbelt with suburban housing and local shops.
The village is best known for RAF Burtonwood, once a major United States air depot during and after the Second World War; that military past still shapes its identity and is remembered in local memorials. Since the airbase closed the area has seen residential and light industrial redevelopment, and today Burtonwood combines a quiet community feel with small‑scale commercial activity, village pubs and community groups.
