Redditch

Redditch sits in the north of Worcestershire, on the edge of the West Midlands and about a short drive from Birmingham. The district is shaped by the River Arrow and the attractive green space of Arrow Valley Country Park, with a distinctive post‑war road layout and ring road that reflect its mid‑20th century expansion as a planned new town.

Historically Redditch grew from a small market town into an industrial centre famed for needle and fishing‑tackle manufacture, a legacy preserved at the Forge Mill Needle Museum. That industrial past sits alongside a more modern civic and cultural life, with community arts, local theatres and annual events that celebrate both craft and green‑space leisure.

Today the district combines light manufacturing and distribution parks with service and retail hubs such as the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, and many residents commute into nearby cities for work.
