The village of Bellsbank sits on the edge of the Doon Valley near Dalmellington in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It occupies an upland spot above the valley with views across rolling Ayrshire countryside towards the Galloway Hills, the landscape mixing moorland, farmland and traces of its industrial past.
Originally a coal‑mining community established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Bellsbank still carries that heritage even after the pits closed and the local economy restructured. Today the village is characterised by a strong local identity and community activity, with many residents commuting to nearby towns or working in local services, agriculture and small enterprises, and a number of grassroots regeneration projects and social groups helping to sustain village life.
