Sgalpaigh is a small, largely uninhabited island off the coast of Harris in Na h-Eileanan Siar, Scotland. Its low, rocky shores with pockets of machair and heath make it a handy refuge for seabirds and seals, and it offers the kind of remote coastal scenery beloved by wildlife watchers and local boaters.
As with many tiny Hebridean isles, Sgalpaigh sits within a landscape shaped by Norse and Gaelic history and traditional crofting practices; there are no permanent residents now, but the island has long figured in local grazing, fishing and seasonal use and remains part of the cultural geography of Harris.
