Blackburn South East is an electoral ward in the south-eastern part of the town of Blackburn, within the unitary authority of Blackburn with Darwen. The ward is largely residential, with a mix of Victorian terraces and later suburban housing and a few pockets of former mill land and local commercial strips; it sits close to the town centre and has reasonably direct road links towards the M65 and A666, connecting residents to neighbouring towns and employment centres.
The area reflects Blackburn's 19th-century cotton-industry heritage - some former mill buildings have been repurposed - and a diverse community with active faith, cultural and grassroots organisations. Like much of the borough it has seen regeneration efforts and faces pockets of social and economic challenge, but local schools, community centres and volunteer groups give the ward a distinctly civic, down-to-earth character.
