Astley Bridge is a largely residential ward to the north of Bolton town centre in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester. It occupies a valley shaped by the Astley Brook and the River Croal, giving pockets of housing and old mill buildings a backdrop of rolling countryside with views towards the West Pennine Moors.
The area grew up in the 19th century with the textile industry and still shows that industrial heritage in terraces and converted mills, while today it is a mix of commuters and long‑standing local communities with shops, schools and active community groups. Transport links into Bolton and Manchester are straightforward and green spaces such as Jumbles Country Park and the nearby Bromley Cross corridor make it popular with walkers and families.
