Capenhurst is a small village in Cheshire West and Chester, England, lying a few miles north of Ellesmere Port and west of Chester. It sits beside low‑lying agricultural land and the tidal marshes of the River Gowy, giving the area a semi‑rural feel despite its proximity to an industrial corridor.
The village is perhaps best known for the uranium enrichment works at Capenhurst, operated by Urenco since the 1960s, which has strongly influenced the local economy and employment; there is also a small railway station on the line between Chester and Liverpool that keeps it connected. Community life is modest and residential, a mix of commuters and longer‑standing farming families, and the contrast between countryside and industry is a defining characteristic of the locality.
