Frodsham is a historic market town in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester, England, sitting on the banks of the River Weaver close to the River Mersey estuary. It occupies the edge of the Cheshire Plain beneath the sandstone ridge dominated by Helsby Hill, which gives the area notable walking routes, good views over the estuary and rich birdlife on the nearby marshes.
Historically a medieval market centre with traces of older defensive earthworks and Victorian growth around the railway, Frodsham today combines a small‑town feel with a commuter role for Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. The town has independent shops, pubs and community events, and acts as a gateway to local outdoor attractions such as the marshes and nearby Delamere Forest, making it popular with walkers and families.
