Saltash Tamar is an electoral ward in Saltash, Cornwall, England, sitting on the west bank of the River Tamar opposite Plymouth. The area benefits from striking riverside views and close proximity to the Grade I-listed Royal Albert Bridge and the road Tamar Bridge, so it feels part town and part gateway to the wider Tamar estuary.
Historically the locality grew around crossings, maritime trade and light industry, and today the economy mixes local shops, marine-related businesses and a large number of commuters who work across the border in Plymouth. Socially it’s a mix of traditional Cornish stone terraces and newer housing, with an active community life centred on sailing, river events and village-style festivals, and easy access to the lanes and woodlands of the Tamar Valley.
