High Beech is a small hamlet on the southern edge of Epping Forest in Essex, England. Perched on higher ground, it provides wide views over the ancient woodland and is a popular access point for walkers, cyclists and riders; the surrounding forest of pollarded oaks, heather and glades supports diverse wildlife and year‑round outdoor recreation.
Historically part of the old royal forest and preserved as public open space from the 19th century, the area’s wild character has long attracted artists and naturalists. Today High Beech is a modest cluster of buildings and visitor facilities whose local economy leans on leisure and tourism, and it remains a social focal point for community events and informal gatherings in the forest.
