Offley is a quietly rural civil parish in North Hertfordshire, lying between Hitchin and Luton on the eastern edge of the Chilterns’ rolling countryside. The area is made up of scattered settlements including Great Offley, Little Offley and the hamlet of Breachwood Green, with lanes, hedgerows and pockets of ancient woodland offering good walking and wide views across the surrounding landscape.
Historically agricultural, the parish still retains a farming character alongside a commuter population who travel to nearby towns and London; there’s a strong village community with a village hall, pubs and local clubs. The place has medieval roots and surviving features of common land and estate landscapes, giving it a quieter, conservation-minded feel compared with more built-up parts of Hertfordshire.
