Isle of Oxney is a small, largely rural ward in the borough of Ashford, situated in Kent, England. Once an actual island surrounded by the marshes of the River Rother and the low-lying Romney Marsh, it is now connected to the surrounding countryside and contains a string of villages such as Wittersham, Stone-in-Oxney and Newenden.
The area is known for its agricultural character - orchards, arable fields and pasture - alongside historic churches and timber-framed houses, pleasant riverside walks and pockets of rich wildlife. Life here feels village-centred, with local events and small-scale tourism, while many residents commute to Ashford and further afield for work, blending a long historical pedigree with a quiet, contemporary rural community.
