The civil parish of Kirkham sits on the flat agricultural plain of the Fylde in Lancashire, north‑west England, not far from the estuary of the River Ribble and within easy reach of Preston and the coastal resorts of Blackpool. The surrounding landscape is open farmland with a compact town centre and good road and rail links that make it a commuter base as well as an agricultural service hub.
Historically a market town with medieval roots, Kirkham still shows Georgian streets and nearby ecclesiastical ruins at Kirkham Priory, and it hosts the long‑established Kirkham Grammar School. The local economy mixes small shops, light industry and farming, while a strong community scene of clubs, societies and local events preserves a village‑scale social life despite the town’s proximity to larger urban centres.
