Rossall is the coastal ward at the southern edge of Fleetwood in the borough of Wyre, Lancashire, England. It hugs the Irish Sea with a long promenade, sandy foreshore and dune-backed shoreline, and includes the low-lying Rossall Point area that is popular with walkers and birdwatchers for its saltmarsh and migratory seabirds.
The ward has a strong local identity centred on the striking Victorian campus of Rossall School, whose gothic buildings are a prominent landmark. Economically it is largely residential with a seasonal tourist trade along the seafront and links to Fleetwood’s historic fishing and port economy; socially it mixes long-term residents, retirees and the school community, and faces the familiar coastal issues of erosion and sea-defence maintenance.
