Wythenshawe is a large suburban district on the southern edge of Manchester in England, created largely as a garden city–style council estate in the 1920s and 1930s. It is notable for its wide swathes of green space - including Wythenshawe Park and the historic Wythenshawe Hall - and its proximity to Manchester Airport and the River Mersey.
The area has a strong local identity and a mixed housing stock, with community amenities, local shopping centres and health services such as Wythenshawe Hospital. Transport links into the city and to the airport, alongside ongoing regeneration programmes, sit alongside longstanding social and economic challenges, giving the area a complex but resilient character.
