Ringway is a small civil parish on the southern edge of the Trafford borough in Greater Manchester, historically part of Cheshire. It retains a village feel with a small population and rural lanes, which sit oddly alongside one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs.
The parish is dominated economically and culturally by Manchester Airport, originally developed from an aerodrome and notable as RAF Ringway in the Second World War for parachute training. Today the airport and associated hotels, cargo facilities and business parks provide the main local employment, while good road and rail links connect the otherwise quiet, semi-rural community to the wider region.
