Salthouse is a small coastal village on the Norfolk coast in the district of North Norfolk, Norfolk, England. It sits beside a shingle ridge, salt marsh and grazing marsh on the edge of the North Sea, and is tucked between Cley-next-the-Sea and Weybourne. The locality forms part of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with birdwatchers and walkers for its wide skies, tidal creeks and quiet beaches.
Historically the village has links with salt working, fishing and small-scale farming, and that maritime heritage still shapes the character of the settlement and the pattern of lanes and cottages around the church and green. Today the economy leans on agriculture, conservation and tourism: local pubs, holiday lets and nature reserves draw visitors while the marshes and dunes remain important habitats protected for breeding and migratory birds.
