Hingham in South Norfolk, Norfolk, England is a small market town about 15 miles south-west of Norwich. It has a compact, well-preserved centre of Georgian and medieval buildings, a handsome parish church and a conservation area that gives the town a strong sense of history and character.
Notably, many inhabitants emigrated in the 17th century to found what became Hingham, Massachusetts, a transatlantic link that the town still acknowledges; economically the area has long been agricultural but now mixes farming with independent shops, pubs and commuters to Norwich, while the surrounding Norfolk countryside and local events keep community life active.
