Map of the UK

South Norfolk is a largely rural district in the county of Norfolk, to the south and west of the city of Norwich in England. The landscape is a mix of gently rolling arable farmland, ancient woodlands and river valleys, with parts of the district edging towards the wetlands and waterways of The Broads.

The area is dotted with attractive market towns and villages, notably Wymondham, with its striking abbey, and Diss, known for its market and tree-lined Mere; Long Stratton represents a larger service centre for the surrounding countryside. There is a rich historic fabric here - medieval churches, Georgian townscapes and many conservation areas that reflect long-standing rural communities.

Economically the district remains rooted in agriculture and food production, with an expanding mix of light industry, small manufacturers and services; many residents commute to Norwich for work. Good road and rail links, river and country walks, cycling routes and proximity to The Broads also make it a popular area for outdoor leisure and tourism while village halls and local clubs keep community life active.
