Sale is a suburban town in Trafford, in Greater Manchester, lying about six miles south‑west of Manchester on the banks of the River Mersey. It combines leafy residential districts and parks with waterside open space - notably Sale Water Park - and sits close to neighbouring centres such as Altrincham.
Originally a market village that grew rapidly as a Victorian and Edwardian commuter suburb after the arrival of rail, Sale now has a busy town centre and a mix of independent shops, cafés and family housing, alongside recent mixed‑use redevelopment around Sale Waterside. It retains a strong local sporting and community life and is popular with families commuting into central Manchester.
