Langwathby is a village and small civil parish in Westmorland and Furness, England, sitting on the banks of the River Eden about six miles north of Penrith. Its riverside setting in the rolling, pastoral Eden Valley gives the village a strong rural character, with a mix of traditional stone houses, agricultural land and a railway station on the Settle–Carlisle line that links it into the wider region.
Historically a farming community - the village name probably refers to a long ford across the river - Langwathby has evolved into a place where agriculture, local services and modest tourism coexist; walkers, anglers and rail enthusiasts are often drawn by the scenery and the line. There is a noticeable village community life, with a pub, village hall and church, and a handful of historic buildings that hint at its longstanding role as a small Eden Valley service centre.
