Shevington Moor is a small residential area and village within the borough of Wigan in Greater Manchester, historically part of Lancashire. Located on higher ground between Shevington and Standish, it sits at the suburban–rural fringe and overlooks patches of farmland and former coalfield countryside, giving it a mix of village atmosphere and commuter accessibility.
Locally the area is quiet and community-orientated, with a primary school, village hall, shops and the sort of pubs and groups you expect in a traditional northern village. Like much of the Wigan area it has nineteenth-century links to coal mining and industry, but today most residents work in Wigan or commute to larger centres such as Manchester and Liverpool, using nearby roads and rail connections while enjoying the green spaces and community events that give the place its character.
