Stormont

The Stormont electoral ward sits on the eastern edge of Belfast, centred on the leafy Stormont Estate with its parkland, mature trees and broad lawns. It is dominated by the imposing granite Parliament Buildings and the historic Stormont Castle, giving the ward a suburban, low‑density character compared with inner‑city neighbourhoods.

Since the 1930s the estate has been the administrative heart of devolved government in Northern Ireland, which shapes the local economy and identity - many residents work in public service or politics and the area frequently hosts civic events, demonstrations and commemorations. The ward is generally seen as relatively affluent and residential, with good links into central Belfast and valued for easy access to green space close to the city.
