Ballymagroarty

Ballymagroarty is an electoral ward in the Derry City and Strabane district of Northern Ireland, lying on the western side of the city of Derry (historically in County Londonderry). It is primarily a residential area with a mix of private and social housing, local shops, schools and small businesses serving a largely working‑class community.

Like many parts of the city, Ballymagroarty has a strong local identity and active community groups; sports clubs, youth projects and cultural activities play an important role. The ward’s streets and social fabric reflect twentieth‑century urban expansion and the legacy of the Troubles, while recent regeneration and community‑led initiatives aim to improve amenities and opportunities for residents, with easy access to city services and nearby green spaces.
