Tollymore is an electoral ward sitting in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains within the Newry, Mourne and Down district of Northern Ireland. The ward includes the well‑known Tollymore Forest Park, with mixed woodlands, rivers such as the Shimna River, Gothic stone bridges and Victorian demesne features that make it a popular spot for walkers, picnickers and outdoor activities; parts of the park were used as filming locations for Game of Thrones, which has boosted visitor interest.
Historically the area grew up around an estate landscape with follies, lodges and managed woodland; today the local economy is a mix of tourism, forestry and agriculture, with small communities drawing on nearby Newcastle and the rest of Newry, Mourne and Down for services and employment. There is an active volunteer and conservation scene helping to maintain recreational facilities and the park’s heritage, giving the ward a strong outdoor and community character.
