Coll is a low‑lying island in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland, part of Argyll and Bute. It sits to the west of Mull and near Tiree, and is known for its wide white sandy beaches, machair grassland and a mix of peatlands and crofts. The landscape is gentle and windswept, making it a haven for seabirds, seals and other coastal wildlife.
The main settlement and ferry terminal is at Arinagour, with regular ferry links to Oban and neighbouring isles. Coll has a small, close‑knit community with a strong Gaelic heritage and a long history that includes prehistoric and medieval remains; the local economy centres on crofting, fishing and tourism, and the island has been involved in various community‑run initiatives to sustain services and small‑scale development.
