Locharbriggs is a small village on the eastern edge of Dumfries in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, set beside the low-lying peatlands of Lochar Moss and surrounded by gently rolling agricultural country. Its location on the approaches to the county town gives it a semi-rural, commuter-village feel while keeping quick access to the shops and services of Dumfries.
The place is best known for the distinctive warm red sandstone quarried locally - historically referred to as Locharbriggs stone - which helped shape many Victorian public buildings and terraces across Scotland and beyond and still forms a strong part of local identity.
