Thurso

Thurso sits on the north coast of Caithness in the Highland council area of Scotland, often described as the northernmost town on the British mainland. It perches at the mouth of the River Thurso looking out across the Pentland Firth, with views to Orkney on clear days and the rugged cliffs of Dunnet Head nearby; the village of John o' Groats is a familiar landmark in long-distance itineraries and the busy ferry port at Scrabster links the area to the islands.
