The village of Kinloss sits on the northern edge of the Moray coast in north‑eastern Scotland, close to the dunes and estuary of Findhorn and overlooking the Moray Firth. Its low, windswept landscape features forestry, agricultural land and coastal paths, and the nearby firth is notable for wildlife such as bottlenose dolphins and a variety of seabirds.
Kinloss has a strong historic and military flavour - the ruins of Kinloss Abbey, a 12th‑century Cistercian foundation, sit near the village, while the former RAF station was re‑purposed as Kinloss Barracks, shaping local employment alongside farming and tourism. Despite those influences, it remains a small, close‑knit community that serves as a quiet base for exploring the surrounding towns like Forres and Elgin and the wider Moray coast.
