Boighreigh sits among the skerries and small islands of Na h-Eileanan Siar in Scotland, typifying the low‑lying, rocky terrain and machair‑fringed coastline of the Outer Hebrides. It is small and generally uninhabited, and like many of these islets provides important haul‑out and breeding habitat for seals and seabirds while shaping local currents and shelter for traditional fishing grounds.
Though not a centre of settlement, Boighreigh contributes to the cultural landscape of the islands: such skerries were often used historically for summer grazing, seaweed gathering and as navigational markers for crofting communities, and today they attract naturalists, boaters and sea‑kayakers interested in wildlife and the rugged coastal scenery.
