Gairsay

Gairsay is a small, low-lying island in the Orkney Islands of Scotland, known more for its peaceful, agricultural landscape than for tourism. Lying among Orkney's maze of skerries and sounds, it offers rugged coastal scenery, grazing ground for sheep and small areas of cultivated land, with an abundance of seabirds and wild coastal flora.

Historically it has seen Norse and later small crofting communities, and today it is privately owned and largely uninhabited, with archaeological traces and local stories that reflect Orkney's Viking and rural past. Its quiet character and connection to traditional sea-farming life make it typical of the lesser-known islands in the archipelago.
