The Highland ward sits in the northern, more upland part of Perth and Kinross in central Scotland. It is characterised by sweeping glens, moorland and remnant Caledonian pine, acting as a scenic gateway to the Highlands and attracting hillwalkers, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Economically the ward is largely rural - hill farming, forestry and estate-based tourism such as shooting, fishing and holiday lets provide much of the income - while small local services and community groups sustain village life. Historic traces from prehistoric sites to nineteenth‑century estate architecture dot the area, and like many rural wards it balances challenges such as an ageing population and service access with active community resilience and a strong sense of local identity.
