Ayton is a small village in the east of the Scottish Borders, Scotland, set in the gentle valley of the Eye Water and close to the east coast. It sits just off the A1, giving handy road links to Eyemouth and Berwick-upon-Tweed, and the surrounding landscape is a mix of farmland, estate parkland and coastal walking country.
The village is noted for the castellated profile of Ayton Castle and remnants of its formal estate, reflecting the area's 19th-century landscaping and local history. Today the local economy is largely agricultural with some tourism and commuting, and the village retains a close-knit community feel with events and activities that make the most of the Borders' outdoor and cultural attractions.
