Coldstream is a small market town on the banks of the River Tweed in the Scottish Borders of Scotland, right beside the border with Northumberland. Its position at a historic crossing is marked by the old stone Coldstream Bridge, and the surrounding landscape of rolling farmland and wooded riverbanks makes it a popular spot for salmon fishing, walking and rural tourism.
Despite its modest size, Coldstream has a distinctive identity - famously giving its name to the Coldstream Guards - and a mix of stone-built houses, local shops and agricultural services. The local economy centres on farming, angling-related tourism and serving nearby towns such as Berwick-upon-Tweed and Kelso, and the community is often described as close-knit with a strong sense of Border history and tradition.
