Yetholm sits in the eastern Cheviot Hills of the Scottish Borders, Scotland, straddling the gentle valley of the Bowmont Water. The twin settlements of Town Yetholm and Kirk Yetholm are a magnet for walkers as the traditional northern terminus of the Pennine Way, and the surrounding rolling hills and river corridors are popular for hillwalking, birdwatching and low‑intensity rural recreation.
Historically the area bears the imprint of Border life - from reiver-era skirmishes to a long‑standing Romani presence in Kirk Yetholm, where the colourful “King of the Gypsies” tradition was once associated with the village. Today the economy is predominantly agricultural, supplemented by small-scale tourism, local pubs, B&Bs and annual community and agricultural events that reflect a close‑knit social life.
