Llanelwedd sits in rural Powys, central Wales, on the north bank of the River Wye opposite the market town of Builth Wells. Its setting in a broad river valley with rolling farmland and nearby uplands makes it popular for riverside walking and country pursuits.
The village is best known for the Royal Welsh Showground, which hosts the annual Royal Welsh Show and other large events that reflect the area’s strong agricultural economy and community life. It is easily reached from the A470 and by rail at Builth Road, and sits within easy reach of the hills of the Cambrian Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, making it a practical base for exploring mid-Wales.
