Oxspring is a small village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, England, set in the narrow valley of the River Don. It lies on the western edge of the borough with easy commuter access to Sheffield and Huddersfield, and is close to the Pennine hills on the fringe of the Peak District, so it combines a quiet village feel with ready links to larger towns and countryside.
Historically Oxspring had a modest industrial past centred on water‑powered mills and small forges by the river; many of those buildings have been converted and the village today is largely residential with a close‑knit community, basic local amenities and plenty of walking and cycling routes. Its riverside setting and surrounding farmland make it popular with people looking for rural life while still commuting into nearby urban centres.
