Chislehurst is a leafy ward in the London Borough of Bromley, on the south-eastern edge of London. It feels more suburban than metropolitan, with a mix of Victorian and Edwardian houses, several conservation areas and a commuter population who benefit from regular rail links into central London.
The area is best known for the man‑made Chislehurst Caves, former chalk mines that served as air‑raid shelters in the Second World War and are now a colourful local landmark used for tours, events and occasional film work, and for Chislehurst Common, a popular green space. The high street retains independent shops, cafés and schools, giving the ward a villagey, community‑minded feel within easy reach of surrounding suburbs such as Petts Wood.
