Darwin is an electoral ward in the southern fringe of the London Borough of Bromley, sitting on the greener, more rural edge of outer London. It includes village-style settlements such as Downe and sits within protected greenbelt and rolling countryside, with a number of conservation areas and public footpaths that reflect its semi-rural character.
The ward is probably best known for Down House, the former home of Charles Darwin, which gives the area a strong historic and cultural identity. Economically it is largely residential with small farms, local businesses and a commuter population, while socially it retains a village feel with community events, traditional pubs and easy access to outdoor recreation close to the Kent border and neighbouring centres like Biggin Hill.
