Rastrick is a ward in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, lying immediately beside Brighouse and close to the River Calder. It’s a largely residential area of stone terraces and Victorian housing with pockets of light industry and local shops, and benefits from decent transport links for commuters heading to Leeds, Huddersfield and the rest of the Calder Valley.
The area has a strong local identity rooted in the region’s textile and industrial past and is perhaps best known culturally through the long-standing brass-band tradition - most famously the Brighouse and Rastrick ensemble. Around the edges there are pleasant views towards the Pennines and accessible canals and towpaths, so it mixes suburban living with reminders of the borough’s historic landscape and community life.
