Malpas is a large village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester, set in the rolling farmland of south Cheshire not far from the border with Shropshire and within easy reach of both Chester and Wrexham. Its position on the rural fringe gives it a pleasantly undulating setting of hedgerows, lanes and small farms rather than an urban feel.
Historically a market-centred settlement, Malpas still retains a strong village identity with a notable medieval parish church of St Oswald, local shops and active community groups. The local economy remains largely agricultural with many residents commuting to nearby towns, and the village is known for regular community events, clubs and an agricultural show that reflect its long rural traditions.
