Pleasley is a village in the Bolsover district of Derbyshire, England, lying close to the Nottinghamshire town of Mansfield and set along the valley of the River Meden. Its semi-rural setting gives easy access to countryside walks and trails, while still being within reach of larger towns.
The village has a strong industrial heritage: the former coal workings of Pleasley Pit and the water-powered textile complex in Pleasley Vale shaped the local economy for well over a century. The pit, closed in the 1980s, and the surviving mill buildings are now part of a conservation and leisure landscape – the pit site and surrounding woods form Pleasley Pit Country Park and the valley is prized for wildlife, historic industrial architecture and community events.
