Pleasley is a village in the Bolsover district of Derbyshire, England, lying close to the Nottinghamshire town of Mansfield and set along the valley of the River Meden. Its semi-rural setting gives easy access to countryside walks and trails, while still being within reach of larger towns.
The village has a strong industrial heritage: the former coal workings of Pleasley Pit and the water-powered textile complex in Pleasley Vale shaped the local economy for well over a century. The pit, closed in the 1980s, and the surviving mill buildings are now part of a conservation and leisure landscape – the pit site and surrounding woods form Pleasley Pit Country Park and the valley is prized for wildlife, historic industrial architecture and community events. Today Pleasley blends that heritage with everyday village life, local shops, a school and active local groups.
