Snelston is a small village and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, set amid rolling farmland on the southern fringe of the Peak District. It lies a few miles from the market town of Ashbourne and feels characteristically rural, with stone cottages, lanes and fields forming the immediate landscape.
Historically the settlement grew around a landed estate and the former manor house, Snelston Hall, and traces of that estate pattern remain in the village layout and architecture. Agriculture still shapes local life, but many residents commute to nearby towns; there is also a modest local community scene with conservation interest in the village’s historic buildings and countryside setting.
