Swadlincote

Swadlincote is a town in the district of South Derbyshire, in the county of Derbyshire in central England. Historically it grew up in the 19th century as a centre for coal and clay extraction and associated industries such as ceramics, brick‑making and mining, and the legacy of that industrial past still shapes the town’s layout and buildings. Much of the former industrial land has been reclaimed and the town sits on the edge of the National Forest, giving a mix of post‑industrial character and growing green spaces.

Today Swadlincote functions as a local retail and service hub with markets, leisure facilities and light industry, while many residents commute to larger nearby centres.
