Wingerworth is a large village and civil parish in North East Derbyshire, about three miles south‑west of Chesterfield in Derbyshire, England. It sits on the eastern fringe of the Peak District and combines a compact village centre with surrounding housing and countryside, making it popular with commuters to nearby towns and cities.
Historically an agricultural parish, Wingerworth was long shaped by the presence of the country seat Wingerworth Hall - demolished in the 1920s - whose parkland survives as public green space; the locality also has links to the region’s coalworking and light industry. Today the village keeps a strong community feel with local shops, schools and sports clubs, and a network of footpaths and lanes that make it a pleasant base for exploring rural Derbyshire and the Peak District.
