Bere Ferrers is a compact rural parish in West Devon, Devon, set beside the tidal stretch of the River Tavy within the wooded, estuarine landscape of the Tamar Valley. The village has a pleasantly riverine feel with stone cottages, a small quay and lanes that attract walkers and birdwatchers; the surrounding countryside is typical south‑west Devon farmland and wooded valleys.
Historically the "Ferrers" suffix recalls the medieval de Ferrers family who once held the manor, and the area retains several older buildings and a strong local community. It is served by the Tamar Valley Line between Plymouth and Gunnislake, so while agriculture and local services remain important, many residents commute to nearby towns such as Bere Alston and Plymouth, and the parish enjoys a modest level of visitor interest for its scenery and peaceful rural character.
